Lesson Learned

God taught me a good lesson today.  You know how sometimes people tell white lies thinking that little white lies are okay?  Well, lies are lies, no matter what colour they are!

At work on Monday, the Chairman of the company came to my office and asked me whether the lease agreement for the new coffee roaster had been signed and sent out or not.  Without hestitation, I blurted out yes, even though I had not.  Why did I do that?!  On one hand, I was afraid that the Chairman would flip his lid, as he is known to do.  Furthermore, I thought that it would be no big deal to complete the agreement the next day.

Well, as you know it, the office was closed for the next two days.  So, today when I came into the office, I made sure that the lease was signed, cheque was made and the package was ready to go.  At this point in time, I called the guy in the leasing company and I get this voicemail:  "I am on vacation and will be returning next Thursday."  Ahhhhhhhhh!!!   My initial reaction was, I deserve this Lord.  Thank you for teaching me this lesson that even little lies are not acceptable.

Throughout the day, the Chairman kept asking me whether the lease had been executed and whether the funds have been transferred to our bank account yet.  Each time he asked, I would answer him that the funds are coming.  And each time I replied to him, I am reminded by God that what I did was wrong.  I had breached my own integrity.  I am still so weak and I still have so much to learn and grow.  It is so easy to sin and fall short of God's glory.  Thankfully, our Lord and Saviour Jesus is a merciful, forgiving and loving God.  Thank you Jesus.

I finished my packing tonight for the trip to Bark Lake.  My first ever church retreat!  Even though it's only for 3 nights and 4 days, my packing bag is stuffed.  It's a pretty humid night tonight.  While packing, I was sweatin' like a pig.

I'm looking forward to a few days away from the city.  I just pray that the weather will be nice and that the retreat will be a time of learning, self-reflection, fellowship, worship, laughter, memories, and filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
