Sticking To My Guns

The other day my wife and I decided to free our mind from all the cancer talk and so we ventured off into the mall. This is what my wife calls "shopping therapy". It works better for her than it does for me. But I understand the need.

We came upon a necklace that my wife was particularly interested in. But I reminded her that we made a binding agreement when we got engaged that I don't have to buy her anymore jewellery. I have it on video! And so, we moved on.

Over the next few days, I thought more and more about the necklace and came upon this verse in Psalm 40:

"May the LORD think of me."

I love the word "think". To me, the word has a sense of longing. When you're in love with someone, you often think of them and you plan for things with the ultimate purpose of seeing and being with that person. And because there is planning involved, the word "think" also seems to have a proactive aspect to it.

"Think" is not "remember" nor "don't forget"-- to me, the latter two terms have a taste of past tense or an after-thought. "Think" is proactive, mindful and purposeful.

Anyway, I was touched by that verse because it reminded me that God is proactive, mindful and purposeful. And to know that God thinks of me is unfathomable but so comforting. God loves and longs for me. How amazing is that?!

And in Gen 8:1, right in btw the earth was flooded for 150 days (7:24) and the water receded also for 150 days (8:3) "God remembered Noah".

Certainly, God also remember Ivan in the midst of his trial.
